About Chipola Turf Farm, LLC
Chipola Turf Farm, LLC has been growing sod since 1999. For the 1st 4 years we just grew for sod contractors to harvest on the farm.
In 2004 Ricky Davis started as Farm Manager and began growing and harvesting sod along with the sod contractors up to 2005. At that time the farm had 165 acres of sod with most in Centipede and 26 acres in Palmetto St. Augustine.
Today we have 350 acres of sod that includes Empire Zoysia, 419 Bermuda, and Sapphire St. Augustine, Centipede, Palmetto St. Augustine and the new grass Captiva St. Augustine that was just developed by the University of Florida. We are now independent of the sod contractors and sell directly to the public in a retail/wholesale manner. We grow grass more organically by using different types of organic compost. This minimizes the environmental impact on the soil and it also adds carbon to the soil to minimize drought, disease and pest damage.
